Melanie & Tony’s wedding this past summer was such a treat! A blend of Chinese, Vietnamese and western culture, the day was full of laughter, tears, outfit changes and many performances. (One by the cutest grandma)

As always, it’s such an honour to brought into these events. To observe and laugh and marvel at how, no matter the culture, when two people commit to forever it is the greatest cause for celebration.

Camille + Matthew had the most magical August wedding day so uniquely them! I loved every moment.

✨ they got ready together

✨ the wedding dress wasn’t floor length, nor did it have many layers or any boning. It’s was a custom, vintage inspired creation by the amazing @cwiebeclothes of the most beautiful lace & silk.

✨ there was no bridal party

✨ there was no ‘colour scheme.’ They fully trusted their florist @academyfloristweddings to make magic, and boy did they ever!

✨ they started off grabbing some ice teas at their fave local spot.

✨ the guest list was kept to only the closest family and friends

This summer was perfection.

I photographed:
7 couples while they said I do
3 growing families
5 engaged couples
2 events

I also went to the beach, swam in a lake, caught many fish, relaxed at a cabin, made new friends, floated down a lazy river, saw shooting stars, read 6 books, learned to make a new cocktail, celebrated my parents 40th wedding anniversary, played many card games and caught up with family from far away. 😊

Quite a few years ago I made the decision to only second shoot for photographers who genuinely inspire me, whose work made me stop in my tracks or ones I was eager to learn from.

Now, while this means I don’t second shoot all that often, (like 2/3 times a year) it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made because when I do, not only do I have an amazing day, I find it breathes life into my creative spirit, rekindling my passion and motivating me to be even better as an artist.

Recently I had the absolute joy of second shooting for the fabulous @katwillson who has taught me countless things but probably the most profound is having the courage to stand up for myself. (Which, let’s be honest, is a superpower)

And here are just a few of my favourite snaps from that day. ♥️♥️♥️
